    Canonball ("we", "us", "our") is a literary companion application available at canonball.io and on mobile platforms. We help readers track books, discover Whispersync pairings, build vocabulary, and participate in book clubs.

    When you use Canonball, we collect the following:

    • Account information: your name and email address, provided when you sign up via Google or email.
    • Reading data: books you add to shelves, reading runs, progress, and ratings.
    • Vocabulary sessions: words practiced and session results.
    • Book club activity: clubs you create or join, schedules, and quiz results.
    • Usage data: basic analytics on how you use the app (e.g., features accessed).

    3. How We Use Your Information

    • To provide and improve the Canonball service
    • To authenticate you and keep your account secure
    • To sync your reading data across devices
    • To send transactional emails (e.g., password reset)
    • To display your activity within book clubs you belong to

    We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

    4. Third-Party Services

    Canonball uses the following third-party services to operate:

    • Google OAuth: optional sign-in method. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google. Google Privacy Policy
    • Google Books API: used to search and display book information. No personal data is shared with this service.

    5. Data Retention

    We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below. We will delete your data within 30 days of a verified request.

    6. Cookies

    Canonball uses cookies and local storage solely to maintain your authentication session. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

    7. Children's Privacy

    Canonball is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
